Color: the color of Lysiosquilla maculate is very striking. There are 3 broad transverse bands of blue-black on the carapace, while the other segments of the post abdomen are broadly bordered both anteriorly and posteriorly with the same color.

Proximal portion of outer margin of uropodal endopod folded; dorsal surface of telson with fan-shaped series of 5 or more spines; distal segment of endopod of first 2 walking legs ovate or subcircular.
