Description
Length 25-27cm

Voice: the normal call is weal squik.

Habits: Its breeding habits in damp marshes and tundra, in its non breeding range use variety of wetlands, often with common snipe. These bird forage in mud or soft soil, probing or picking up food by sight.

Color: Adult have short greenish-grey legs and a long straight dark bill. The body is mottled brown on top with cream lines down their back. They are pale underneath with a streaked buff breast and white belly. They have black through the eye, with light stripe above and below it. Immature differ in minor plumage detail.

Breeding season: It breeds from late-May to August. Nest- The nest is a shallow depression usually well-concealed in dense cover.
