Size: 41-96 mm.

Color: Varies from pinkish or brownish flesh-color to reddish grayish brown, with more or less obscure pattern of spiral bands of white and axial, zigzag, darker lines with high sharp peaks where they cross the white bands forming there a series of sagittate markings.

Adult shell 1 ½ to 3 ¾ inches in length, broadly ovate, usually rather thin, last whorl large, broadly ovate, spire broadly conical. Nuclear whorls conical, 3 ½ in number, rounded, smooth, flesh-colored or darker.
