Two median frontal teeth are rounded and narrower than the next; the external frontal teeth are much the smallest and are obtusely pointed. Extreme extent of basal antennal segment nearly equal to the major diameter of orbit. Inner and upper surfaces of propodus smooth.

Carapace longer than usual, breadth 1.4 times length. Three pairs of gastric ridges, well developed, also the epibranchial interrupted at cervical grooves. Front six lobed; Medians the most projecting, rounded and distinctly separated from broader submedians whose outer edges point directly forward; laterals small and rounded. Anterolateral teeth five in number; 1st distinctly largest, 4th smallest; 2nd and 3rd stout; 5th sharpest and slightly protruding. Chelipeds unequal; the right more massive than left. Anterior border of arm bearing 3 usual spines as does wrist, whose innermost spine is unusually well developed. Upper surface of hand bears 4 usual spines, although outer distal one often reduced to tubercle. Merus of the fifth leg spine larger than usual and length c. 2.5 times breadth, posterior border of propodus with 5-7 spines.
