Description
Carapace broadly pentagonal: fingers much longer than palm, very slender, finely toothed, curved at tip, and are twice the length of the much swollen hand.

Carapace broader than long. The lateral margins are thin, sharp, slightly turned up and sinuous. Carapace is traversed by a longitudinal carina; on the posterior half of which are 3 large vertical spines with the tips often curved forwards. There are always one or two teeth on either side of the longitudinal carina in the gastro cardiac region. The chelipeds have the arm very sharply trigonal. Fingers are finely denticulate with enlarged teeth at distant intervals and the dactylus is remarkable for the great range of its mobility.

Median spines on the posterior part of carapace is more prominent in the male. Longitudinal, hepato-gastric and oblique ridges on the branchial regions are more prominent in the male than in the female.
