Color: Pale reddish brown marked with a broad, pale spiral band.

The shell is fairly large, thick and solid with an inflated body whorl and a greatly reduced spire. The surface is obliquely striated. The columella is covered by a thick, smooth and polished callus which is fused with the body whorl for a little distance posteriorly, but separated it anteriorly, thus leaving the umbilical opening free in this part. The aperture is semicircular.
