Color: No irregular dark blotches on sides, a wide brilliant, silvery stripe on each side of the body.

Cheek with three rows of scales, those on the upper row cycloid, and those on the lower two rows ctenoid. Dorsal spines (total): 12-12, Dorsal soft rays (total): 17-18, Anal spines: 2, Anal soft rays: 17.

Oviparous, dioecious, external fertilization, non-guarders, open water or substratum egg scatterers.
