Description
Carapace length: 41-56 cm; carapace breadth: 55-78 cm

Color: The carapace is irregularly marbled with red or chocolate and patterned with meandering lines or spots of yellowish white. The tips of the dactyli of the walking legs are dark brown to blackish

The carapace is convex and fairly smooth. The stout chelipeds are asymmetrical with the right cheliped being larger than the left. The manus of the major cheliped is massive and each finger has an obtuse tooth at the subproximal end of the inner margin. The walking legs are smooth with their borders bluntly round and the dactyli elongate and slender. The distal portion of the first pleopod of the male is slightly curved inner-dorsally and the tip is obliquely truncated and has a distinct aperture. The abdomen of the male is narrow and elongate with the third and fourth segments fused and the sixth segment much broader than long while the female's abodomen is oblong.
