Description
Size: 23.0 cm - 65.0 cm

Color: Body yellowish grey with highly irregular black bands, many forming a reticulum, black area around anus, a large irregular black blotch around gill opening and pectoral fin base. Lower third of the body white with faint reticulum of yellow. Irregular black lines radiating from eye.

Body heavy, broad and covered with prickles. Small, bifid, solid nasal tentacle before each eye. Head and body covered with small spinules except for region around mouth, base of the fins and caudal peduncle. Dorsal and anal fins rounded. Caudal fin slightly rounded.

Dorsal spines (total): 0-0, Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-12, Anal spines: 0, Anal soft rays: 10-11.
