Description
Size: 45.0 cm TL

Color: Adult males are brilliantly colored in yellow with a blue dorsal surface. Females are olive in color.

The fish has a rigid body which is squarish in cross-section. The scales are modified into hexagonal plates which are encase the body in a box-like armour. Dorsal spines (total): 0-0, Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9, Anal spines: 0, Anal soft rays: 9. Caudal fin rays 10. Its carapace is four-ridged and spineless. Ridges are blunt, but the ventral is more prominent than the dorsal ones.
