Size: 9.2 cm - 40 cm

Color: Body light brown above white below, irregular dark brown bands on head and body; a dark brown blotch below eye, outer half of first dorsal and second dorsal fins with irregular spots, anal fin almost white,pectoral, ventral and caudal fins with row of dark spots.

Depth 7.7 in standard length, 9.2 in total length. Head 3.0 in standard length, 3.7 in total length. Eye 4.2 in head, 1.1 in snout. Teeth on vomer in two patches, a spine in front of eye, a small tentacle on eye, anterior 5 lateral line scales with spines; sub orbital ridges with spines, caudal fin rounded.
Dorsal spines (total): 8 - 9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-12; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 11 - 13. Row of papillae 7-9, on upper surface of eye, middle one elongate
