Color: Body uniformly brown and light blue over abdomen, mouth and gill cavity dusky

Head deeper and broader than body and underside scaled. Eye 5.1 in head and less than snout length. Snout sharply pointed, nostrils in a large pit. Mouth quite inferior, small and slender barbel on chin; sub orbital ridge extending to preopercle; 4½ scale rows below second dorsal, spinules on the scales sharp and keel like: posterio-ventral angle of sub operculum produced into short narrow flap, second dorsal rays not as well developed as those of anal rays, outer ventral ray prolonged.
