Description
Size: 112 mm.

Color: Violet above, pearl colored below. Below eye a violet streak. On the side yellow spots in longitudinal rows, on caudal peduncle spots from strips. Fins reddish violet. Pectoral fin with many spots. Dorsal fins with minute irregular spots. Caudal fin with longitudinal deep violet streaks, above and below the fin is bordered with orange. Pectoral and ventral fin bordered with orange. Anal fin violet-orange, dusky bordered.

Body anteriorly cylindrical, posteriorly compressed, height 5 1/2 in length, 7-7 3/4 in total length. Head sub cylindrical, 4 3/4 - 5 1/4 in length, 6 2/3 - 6 3/4 in total length, in young specimens comparatively larger. Eye 4 to more than 4 in head, interorbital 2 eye diameters. Snout obtuse, prominent. Jaws sub equal. Maxillary extends to below anterior part of eye. In lower jaw on each side 5-8 canines. Scales of occiput, nape and belly cycloid. Scales of head and nape small, laterally anteriorly on body smaller than those of middle of body. First dorsal fin pointed, higher than body, second, third and fourth rays are the longest. Second dorsal fin lower than body, pointed posteriorly. Anal fin a little higher. Pectoral fin rounded, longer than head. Ventral fin a little shorter than head without snout. Caudal fin obtuse, longer than head.
