Description
Size: 53 mm.

Color: Reddish green. A dusky band from eye to maxillary. Eight purple transverse streaks from middle of side downward, the first to axil of ventral fins, the last to foremost rays of anal fin. Base and middle of ventral fins white near the margin violet, rest of the fin reddish to yellowish. First dorsal fin posteriorly with dusky blotch. Second dorsal and anal fin dusky. Caudal fin with transversal rows of dusky spots.

Body elongate, anteriorly a little compressed, posteriorly compressed, height 4 1/2 - 5 in length, 5 2/3 - 6 in total length. Head obtuse, compressed, 4 in length, 5 in total length. Profile convex. Eye more than 3 in head, interorbital less than 1/3 eye diameter. Snout obtuse, shorter than eye, tip below inferior margin of eye. Mouth a little oblique, lower jaw a little prominent. Maxillary extends to below anterior part of pupil. Teeth in several rows, in upper jaw in front some caninoid teeth, in lower jaw on each side a recurved canine. Longitudinal mucous canals on cheek. Supraopercular groove with an open pore behind eye. In front in interorbital medially a small pore. Nape and breast naked. Scales of throat and belly cycloid, on body ctenoid. First dorsal fin lower than body, obtuse, middle rays are the longest, but not prolonged. Second dorsal and anal fin obtuse posteriorly. Pectoral fin obtuse, a little shorter than head. Ventral fin pointed. Caudal fin obtuse, about as long as head.
