Description
Size: 140 cm.

Color: With silvery reflex, a brownish tint stronger towards back, a coppery tint on the flanks, base of pectorals without a black or brownish patch, vertical fins reddish in life.

Height 2.6-2.8 in length, 2.2-2.4 without caudal, head 4.1 in length, 3.5 without caudal, slightly higher than long. Rostro-dorsal profile nearly not convex, inter orbital space slightly convex to flattened, especially in young specimens, the upper rim of eye nearly level with it, ventrals profile slightly convex to ventrals, behind them flattened. Diameter of eye 2-2.5 in length of head, inter orbital space 1.6 in diameter of eye. Maxillary 1.7 in length of head, its hind border somewhat surpassing middle of pupil. Distance of dorsal from point of snout shorter than height of body. Inter maxillary and mandibulary teeth for a Pempheride relatively strong, their outer series strongest, the anterior mandibulary ones partly directed forward and outward and thereby visible from below.
