Size: 6-10 cm.

Color: Above brownish-violet, below lighter or orange violet, opercle without black or violet ocellus, scales with a blue or pearl-colored dot, spinous dorsal with a longitudinal blue band near its base, soft dorsal and anal with interradial small oblique blue bands, caudal with a horse-shoe-shaped orange band.

Height 3 2/3 to 3 3/4, head pointed, 3 1/2 in length with caudal. Eyes somewhat more than thrice in head, one half or 2/3 their diameter distant, rostro-frontal line straight. Jaws equal, maxillary reaching slightly behind eye, about twice in head. Preopercle obtusely rounded, its scales arranged in 7 oblique series. Otherwise closely allied to preceding species. Dorsal spines (total): 12, Dorsal soft rays (total): 7, Anal spines: 3, Anal soft rays: 7 - 9.
