Size: 23.5 cm.

Color: In alcohol yellowish brown, belly blackish, anal and dorsal with a dark border.

Head and trunk broad, tail compressed, strongly tapering. Head nearly 1/4, height, just behind origin of dorsal, 1/6 of total length. Least height of caudal peduncle half length of eye, which goes 4 times in head and is slightly longer than flat interorbital space. Snout depressed, broader than long, obtusely rounded, as long as eye. Upper jaw surpasses middle of eye. Both jaws with a band of equal, minute teeth. Mental barbel stout, shorter than eye. Ten short gill rakes, swollen at their top. First dorsal originates about half eye diameter behind gill opening, it is connected at its base with second dorsal and anteriorly elevated, the first ray prolonged, about equal to head without snout. Dorsal and anal invested in a fold of thick, scaleless skin, length of their rays about 1/3 length of head. Ventrals inserted far before base of pectorals, about two eye diameters before anus, their distance from one another equal to eye, their outer prolonged ray reaches anal or nearly so. Length of pointed pectorals 2/3 length of head. Caudal narrow, somewhat rounded, it is totally free from dorsal and anal. Scales small, 6 scales between first dorsal and lateral line, which is not complete.
