Size: 144.5 cm.

Color: Dark brown or grey; Ventral surface blackish, back lighter,often darker below; anal fin and tips of pectoral fins almost black.

Eye about 1/3 of postorbital part of head, 7 times in snout (in large specimens). Rays in the second third of the length of the dorsal after BRAUER, destitute of membrane, spinelike and much shorter than the rays in the first and last third, which are much longer but shorter than the anal rays. Pectorals nearly equal to height of head. Cleft of mouth reaching behind eye. Posterior end of body narrow, ending as a long filament. Dorsal fin with about 350 rays; caudal fin not recognizable; anal fin with about 320.
