Description
Size: 23.5 cm.

Color: Yellowish or silvery, back brown or olivaceous, from where usually descend five more or less triangular dark blotches, the rounded point of which reaching to middle line of flanks, the first on the nape, the second behind operculum, the third with its broad base before and below origin of dorsal, the fourth below soft dorsal, the small fifth on short caudal peduncle, angel of soft dorsal with a blackish spot, outer half of anal blackish.

Oblong, anteriorly pointed, posteriorly somewhat elevated, greatest height between origin of dorsal and anal, 2.4 in length, 2.9 in length with caudal, rostro-dorsal profile nearly straight, very broad and flattened. Head somewhat shorter than height. Eye about 3.7 in head, as long as pointed snout, much shorter than flat inter orbital space above middle of eye. About 23 scales between first dorsal spine and posterior nostril, lateral line curved upwards between the 4th and 9th lateral scale, the curvature terminating three scales before origin of dorsal. Base of dorsal shorter than that of anal, first spine much shorter than the succeeding, which are sub equal, Usually the third the longest, shorter than half length of head, rays lower, decreasing in size posteriorly with a straight margin. Third anal spine the longest, thrice the length of the first spine, as high as highest part of rounded rayed part. Pectorals as long as head without snout, ventrals equal to post orbital part of head. Caudal slightly emarginate.
