Size: Length 9.90-31.25 mm; height 5.25-15.55 mm; thickness 3.68-13.06 mm

In young shells dorsal margin has a median angle towards posterior side and ventral margin is more concave. Umbonal keel is prominent. Young shells closely agree with Modiolus undulatus but differ in the absence of zic zic marking and in having narrower shells.
