Size: 22-22.2 cm.

Color: Uniform pink or reddish. Dorsal and anal with grayish outer margin. Caudal, pectoral and ventral yellowish.

Body very elongate and compressed. Head compressed, without scales, with a median crest on occiput. Head 6.2 in standard length, 7.4 in total length. Depth of body 8.3 in standard length, 10.0 in total length. Eyes very small, covered by skin. Maxillary extending to below eye. Teeth in jaws in 2 or 3 rows, outer row enlarged. Head, nape and breats naked. 2 continuous dorsal fins. Anal and dorsal fins connected with caudal fin. Pectoral fin about half length of head. Ventral fin less than pectoral. Caudal fin somewhat round. 80-115 scales along lateral series.
Number of spines and rays in the dorsal fin: VI, 46; number of spines and rays in the anal fin: I, 44; number of rays in the pectoral fin: 16; number of scale rows along the lateral line: 86; number of horizontal scale rows usually counted from origin of the dorsal fin to the lateral line and from anal origin to the lateral line: 20.
