Description
Size: 150 mm.

Color: Blackish brown, lighter below. Irregular transverse band. Second dorsal fin with broad white margin, anal fin white. Second dorsal fin with broad white margin, a dark brown submarginal band, below which short dark stripes, bordered with white. Anal fin white.

Body elongate, slightly compressed. Head short and compressed with scales behind eyes, cheek and opercle. Eyes close together. Lips thick. First dorsal fin higher than body, convex, with 10-17 rays. Pectoral fins with a muscular base. Predorsal scales 32-34. Teeth in front caninoid, laterally smaller. Dorsal fins separate. First dorsal fin convex, the first ray is generally a little shorter than the following ones. Anal fin lower than second dorsal fin. Basal membrane of ventral fin moderate to weak. Inner rays of ventral fin anly united at the base by a narrow membrane, which is deeply emarginate. Caudal fin obliquely truncate.
