Description
Size: 9.4 cm.

Color: In preserved specimens yellowish brown with a silvery lateral band. Fin-membrane between second and third dorsal spine dusky, blackish in its distal part.

Oblong, dorsal profile ascending in a curved line from snout to dorsal with a slight depression above eye. Height 2.5-2.8, 3.2-3.7 in length with caudal. Head 2.9-3, 3.6-4 in length with caudal. Eye 2.7-3.1. Snout about equal to interorbital space, which is two thirds or three fourths of eye. Mouth very oblique. Chin prominent. Maxillary reaching to below anterior border of pupil, somewhat dilated posteriorly, with the hindborder a little emarginate. Pointed teeth in three rows in upper jaw, in two rows in lower and in a single row on in upper jaw, in two rows in lower and in a single row on vomer and palatines. Teeth on tongue. Praeorbital coarsely serrated, as well as horizontal border of praeoperculum and praeopercular ridge, last named with a stronger spine at angle. Interoperculum smooth, with a single spine at its posterior angle. Orbital rim rough. Supraorbital ridge smooth, ending posteriorly in a single spine. Two rows of scales on cheeks. Scales of nape smaller that those of body, 17-22 scales between occiput and dorsal. First dorsal spine minute, second one stronger and longer than the others, almost as long as head. Third anal spine somewhat longer than second one and than eighth dorsal spine and equal to snout and eye. Pectorals shorter than head, but longer than ventrals, which are about equal to head without snout. Caudal deeply forked. Lateral line continuously, slightly ascending to below spinous part of dorsal and more abruptly descending again to median line of tail. Least height of caudal peduncle about 1.3 in its length, equal to postorbital part of head.
