Description
Max. size: 7-8 cm SL

Color: Dark bluish back, silvery sides and underside.

Body elongate. No bright silver along band flanks. Maxilla toothless, pre-maxillae triangular, 2 supra-maxillae, second supra-maxilla paddle-shaped and symmetrical. Vertical striae on scales meeting at center. Posterior margin of scales smooth. Pre-dorsal scales 8 to 13. W-shaped pelvic scute, few branchiostegal rays (6 or 7).
Maxillary reaching to front margin of eye or a little father. Origin of dorsal nearer to snout than to base of caudal. Anal a little longer than eye, considerably shorter than ventrals, the origin of which lies nearer to the anal than to the root of the pectorals and is inserted below the middle of the dorsal. Pectorals about as long as eye and snout. Caudal deeply emarginated, 5-6 cm in length. Covered part of scales with 3 to 5 longitudinal lines. 26 gillrakers, about twice as long as branchial filaments, shorter than eye. Dorsal spines (total): 0 - 0, Dorsal soft rays (total): 11 - 13, Anal spines: 0, Anal soft rays: 10-11.

Dioecious, external fertilization. Spawns throughout the year, but peaking once.
