Size: 35 cm.

Color: Pale brown above with the flanks and the belly even paler. A dull silver grey band runs along the middle of the body on the sides.

The body is elongate and almost cylindrical with its snout pointed the upper head profile slightly convex. Dorsal spines (total): 12 - 13, Dorsal soft rays (total): 20 - 21, Anal spines: 2, Anal soft rays: 22 - 23, Vertebrae: 35. Swimbladder without anterior projections; posterior portion tapering to terminate before the unmodified caudal vertebrae.

Oviparous, dioecious, external fertilization, nonguarders, open water or substratum egg scatterers.
