Max. size: 25.0 cm TL

Color:Body light bluish green dorsally, white ventrally. Tips of caudal lobes black. A single yellow longitudinal stripe laterally; pectoral, ventral and anal fins white to pinkish. Axil and pectoral fin black. Dorsal fin light bluish green.

Body fusiform and elongate. Scales on upper 2 or 3 of body lighter than distal portion. Usually 5 rows of scales on cheek, 22-29 predorsal scales, scaled dorsal and anal fins, Upper peduncular scale rows usually 11-13 (11-14), lower peduncular scale rows 15-17. Supra-temporal band of scales confluent at dorsal midline. 2 Post maxillary processes, posterior end of maxilla tapered. Dorsal spines (total): 10 - 11, Dorsal soft rays (total): 14 - 16, Anal spines: 3, Anal soft rays: 11 - 13.

Dioecious, external fertilization, nonguarders, open water or substratum egg scatterers. Oviparous, with numerous, small pelagic eggs.
