Description
Max. size: 6.0 cm SL

Body shape elongated. Color when fresh greenish and somewhat transparent. Body with numerous minute spots, 1st dorsal with a black blotch, caudal fin base with 2 vertically black spots. Longitudinal scales 27-28, transverse scales 7, predorsal scales 6-7. Maxillary extends to the vertical of anterial half of eye, upper jaw prominent, lips thin. Snout obtuse, overhanging the upper lips. Head scaled above behind eye and opercle. Scales on head, breast and belly cycloid, on lateral side of body ctenoid. Middle spines of 1st dorsal longest, 2nd dorsal and anal higher than 1st dorsal, pectoral and ventral about as long as head. Dorsal spines (total): 7 - 7, Dorsal soft rays (total): 7 - 7, Anal spines: 1, Anal soft rays: 7 – 8, Vertebrae: 26.

Dioecious, external fertilisation, guarders, clutch tenders. The male guards the clutch only as long as the young have not hatched.
