Description
Max. size: 20 cm SL

Color: Back is blue green while the flanks are silvery.

Body elongate and strongly compressed. Its depth nearly 1/3rd of standard length. Belly with 29 to 35 prominent scutes. Dorsal profile of head is concave. Mouth is pointing obliquely upward, lower gill rakers are 22 to 28 in number, increasing with size of fish. Pectoral fin is usually about equal to head length or greater, dorsal fin is small, well behind midpoint of body, anal fin long, its origin well before dorsal fin origin. Scales deciduous. Dorsal spines (total): 0, Anal spines: 0, Anal soft rays: 51-63.
