Description
Color (in life): Reddish brown. Some specimen carapace was dark orange brown. Color in spirit yellowish or reddish brown, often very dark or livid on the carapace; distal two-thirds of fingers commonly dark brown.

Distinct spine at the junction of the anterolateral and posterolateral borders of the carapace. Lower border of hand cristate and entire. Frontal border rather undulate, The frontal teeth being not deeply separated. Outer surface of hand of chelipeds covered with very fine downy hairs. A transverse series of red spots traverses the carapace between epibranchial spines.

Diagnosis: Carapace slightly broader than long, suboval. Chelipeds stout, asymmetrical, with smooth surface. Merus with 5-6 rectangular teeth along anterior margin. Carpus with rounded inner-distal angle but inner-proximal angle obtusely triangular; outer surface covered with pubescence. Manus bluntly round on dorsal margin and sharp on ventral margin. Fingers dark-brown at distal quarter, armed with barbs of various sizes on inner margins of major chela with z, rather large triangular barbs at base of minor edge.

Very similar to the species Trapezia lutea. Obligate symbiont, mostly seen in the corals Pocillopora damicornis and very rarely in Acropora corals.
