Description
Size: 12-20 mm.

Color: Dark grey and reddish.

Shell thick, fairly large with moderately inflated whorls and a well elevated spire. The shell is spirally ridged, and the ridges bear close-set circular granules. The outer lip of the aperture is very thick and its edge appears as if it has been obliquely cut off; the margin of the aperture is grooved throughout.  A slight tooth on columella, intersection of axial and spiral ridges, aperture iridescent.
