Scales beginning on head with a supra temporal patch of teeth, the right and the left one separated from each other by a median, triangular prolongation of the scaling of the back, directed forward and ending anteriorly above posterior part of eyes, wedged in between the two patches, which reach anteriorly as far as it. Eight transverse rows of scales on preoperculum, the posterior and inferior limb of which is naked and much so at the somewhat projecting angle. Hind border of preoperculum rugose, 25 rows of scales before dorsal. Dorsal spines rather weak, flexible but pungent. First spine half length of second, which is somewhat shorter than third. Third spine longest, equal to post orbital part of head. Last spine somewhat more than eye, equal to first ray in length. Last dorsal ray extended, as long as snout and eye together. Anal spines slender, the first less than half length of second. Third spine longest, equal to snout. Anal rays somewhat shorter than third spine, but the last ray extended as that of the dorsal and as long as it. Pectorals pointed, falcate, less than half length of snout shorter than head. Ventrals slightly less than head without snout. Caudal deeply forked.
