Description
Color: Colonies are usually pale brown or cream, sometimes with pale blue mouths; living colonies dark brown

Colonies are submassive to encrusting. Calices are small, (less than 3 mm in diameter) and shallow, giving colonies a smooth surface. Polyps have short, tapering tentacles, which may not be extended during the day. Corallites are polygonal or rounded. 3 cycles of septa, septa unequal, tightly packed, septa undergo fusion and then join to a styliform columella. Septal edges wiht 4-6 teeth.

Similar species: This species could be confused with Goniopora planulata, which has larger polyps.
