Description
Size: 6 cm TL.

Color: Uniform dark brown with a black spot at origin of lateral line. A black light edged ocellus between 7th and 11th dorsal rays in small specimens, absent in adults. Dorsal and anal brown, pectoral lighter. Caudal white.

Head 3.0-3.3 in standard length, 3.8-4.3 in total length. Depth of body 2.0-2.2 in standard length, 2.6-2.8 in total length. Eye diameter 3.0-3.2 in head. Snout less than eye diameter and equal to interorbital space. Three rows of scales on cheek, flange naked. Preoperculum serrated. Pectoral fin almost equal to head. Ventral fin longer than pectoral, the first ray slightly produced.
Number of spines and rays in the dorsal fin: XIII, 15; number of spines and rays in the anal fin: II, 14-15; number of rays in the pectoral fin: ii, 14-15; number of spines and rays in the ventral fin: I, 5; number of scale rows along the lateral line: 18-19+8; number of horizontal scale rows usually counted from origin of the dorsal fin to the lateral line and from anal origin to the lateral line: 2+1+8.
