Description
Size: 5.2 cm.

Color: In alcohol specimens yellowish, sides of head silvery. A more or less distinct dark band from snout and lower jaw through eye, continued on opercle and sometimes even on anterior part of body. A not always distinct band from eye to corner of praeoperculum. Fins hyaline, upper and lower lobe of caudal with a longitudinal intramarginal darkish band.

Elongate. Height 4.1-4.3, 5-5.2 in length with caudal. Head 2.7-3, 3.3-3.6 in length with caudal. Eye 3-3.2, longer than snout and than interorbital space. Mouth oblique. Lower jaw somewhat prominent. Maxillary reaching to below anterior half of eye. Paremaxillary with very narrow band of fine teeth, the lateral teeth somewhat larger and equal to those of the single row in the lower jaw. Vomer with a semicrescentic row of small teeth, none on the palatines. Dorsal spines weak, the first about three fourths of second, which is equal to fourth and somewhat shorter than third, lastnamed spine is the longest and about equal to half of height of body. Height of second dorsal equal to three fourths of height of body. Pectorals somewhat shorter than head, reaching on anal. Ventrals reaching anus. Caudal deeply incised with pointed lobes. Scales cycloid, very deciduous, those of opercles small and rounded. Twenty two gillrakers, the longest longer than half eye.
