Description
Color: Brownish, head and ventral surface bluish-black, somewhat viridescent (In alcohol specimens).

Body elongate, subcylindrical anteriorly but increasingly depressed posteriorly. Head conical, 7.0-7.8, depth of body 13-16, both in total length. Head and trunk more than twice in tail. Eye diameter 6.2-7.3 in head, about 1.8 in snout and slightly less than interorbital space. Anterior nostril close to end of snout; hind nostril a little in front of upper part of eye. Cleft of mouth extending to below middle of eye. Dorsal beginning nearly above base of pectorals. Pectorals less than half length of head, with 17 rays. Teeth on intermaxillary plate in 2 series, the posterior series large, behind them on the vomer one or two large ones, at some distance followed by a small one, sometimes behind that an other small one on each side. Ventral distance of gill openings from each other greater than their width. Lateral line very conspicuous, above it on nape and trunk short, black threads.
