Size: 740-785 mm

Color: Greenish brown on dorsal parts of head and body, whitish below. Dorsal and anal fin pale, greenish towards margin.

Body subcylindrical. Head 3.33-3.5 in standard length, 3.6-3.8 in total length. Depth of body 12.5-13.5 in standard length, 14.0-14.8 in total length. Eye diameter 9.0-9.7 in head, 6.0-6.8 in snout and 1.3-1.4 in interorbital space. Canines in jaws almost vertical. A semicircular bony projection below lower jaw just behind its tip. Distance between ventral and anal fins 2.0-2.1 in distance between insertion of pectoral and anal fins. Dorsal fin origin above a level from the third ray of anal fin. Pectoral fin slightly longer than postorbital length of head. Ventral fin slightly shorter than pectoral fin. Caudal fin deeply forked. Lateral line with slight keel on caudal peduncle.
Number of spines and rays in the dorsal fin: ii, 23-24; number of spines and rays in the anal fin: ii, 20-21; number of rays in the pectoral fin: i, 12; number of spines and rays in the ventral fins: i, 5; number of scale rows along the lateral line: 270-285; number of horizontal scale rows usually counted from origin of the dorsal fin to the lateral line and from anal origin to the lateral line: 30-34+1+7-8.
