Description
Color: Living coral dull green in color.

Colonies composed of several tiers of inverted cones with a cylindrical peduncle. The top of the cones is 4 to 5 cm in spread with 1 to 1.5 cm thick peduncles. Primary septa larger than the secondaries. Directives often exert. Second cycle generally incomplete. Two to three papillae often to focus low ridge enclosing calices. Highly porous reticulum. Corallites 0.5-0.7 mm in diameter, close together; wall well defined, primary septa well developed with prominent directives. Second cycle generally incomplete; the surface coenenchyme rises into the small papillae 0.5-1 mm in diameter and height.
Montipora jonesi is unique among the Montipora species reported in India.
