Description
Living coral dull brown to greenish grey.

Ramose, main branches repeatedly dividing, total height up to 20 cm. Branchlets tapering or expanding at the tip. Those specimens from shallow waters with sandy bottom have irregularly swollen, tufted branches that may be up to 5 cm thick at the base. Calices conspicuous, 0.75-1 mm in diameter, a diameter to 1 mm apart deep; septa in two cycles. Surface coenenchyme smooth but with foveolations sometimes around the calices.
