Size: Length 48.50-77.80 mm; diameter 36.95-65.25 mm; length of aperture 29.35-52.20 mm; length of spire 24.05-35.05 mm.

Color: Fawn to brown, exterior usually eroded and covered with calcarrous griwths, spines and fasciole white or fawn, interspasces with brown spiral bands, interior white, becoming yellow near the lip, parietal wall and columella polished, brown or orange.

Biconical, spire tall, body whorl with fine spiral striae ending in tiny teeth along the lip edge, three spiral rows of prominent blunt spines (the most posterior being high and projecting), and a high, rough, angular fasciole, outer lip with 8-10 inner denticles, parietal denticle obsolete, columella with 3-4 weak anterior folds.

This species closely resembles Thais tuberosa but differs in having high spire, aperture without lirations, brown blotches and zones on columella.
