Size: 3 cm.

Color: Extremely variable, usually grey, with brown or black blotches on paler background, beads usually dark, whorls sometimes spirally banded.

Elongate to obese, body whorl flattened dorso-ventrally, spire whorls with three major, equally spaced, heavily beaded spiral cords and several finer spiral threads, body whorl with six major heavily beaded cords, plus two on the siphonal constriction and many fine spiral threads, beads aligned in axial rows, outer lip crenulate, bevelled, with numerous internal denticle-like lirae, when viewed anteriorly the outer lip lower than the canal and not closing over it, former varix of the body whorl directly opposite the outer lip.
