Description
Size: The carapace diameter of the adult male is 16-30 mm and the female 14-24 mm.

Color: Smoky bluish brown above, the blue deepest on the carapace.

Carapace smooth, its regions hardly defined. Epistome projects beyond the front, which hardly pubscent. Sixth abdominal tergum smooth.

The carapace is circular, almost smooth. Its border is defined by a line of uniformly sized beads. The edge of front is emarginate in the middle line, broadly bilobed. The terminal segment of the exognath of the external maxillipeds is semicircular. The chelipeds in the adult male are a little more than twice the length, in the female only about 11/3 times the length of the carapace. The hand of chelipeds is slightly longer than broad. The wrist has a row of granules along the upper border of its upper surface, and on the basal third and inner border of the lower surface. The fingers differ considerably according to sex, but both sexes agree in having the dactylus very markedly longer than the outer border of hand. The anterior male abdominal appendage is broad at the base and abruptly narrows half the way; the tip is bent suddenly and bears numerous spines on a lobule just like a cocks comb.
