Description
Max. size: 60 cm.

Color: Blue green above and silvery white below. A black spot occurs on operculum. The caudal, dorsal, and anal fins are yellowish to greenish yellow.

Body is compressed, sub-ovate with the dorsal profile of the head being steeply curved. The mouth, which has protractile jaws and is relatively large, bears narrow bands of villiform teeth in both jaws with the outer teeth enlarged. The body, except for a small ventral portion of the breast between the head and the pectoral fin's base, is covered with small scales. The fins include two separate dorsals with the first having 1 procumbent spine and 8 normal ones and the second having 1 spine plus 20-23 soft rays. The anal fin has 2 detached spines followed by a single spine and 17-19 rays. The caudal fin is deeply forked.
