Plants reddish purple in color, 30-50 cm tail, attached by small basal discs, simple or branched; thallus multi-axial with radially arranged cortical filaments, assimilatory filaments 4-5 times divided, terminal cells of the cortical filaments large pyriform; rhizoids up to cortical filaments.
