Thalli crustaceous, epiphytic on brown algae, suborbicular, 2-4 mm in diameter, later becoming confluent and overlapping. In surface view, cells arranged in radial rows, cell fusion frequent, heterocyst easily found in the end of a cell row, 19-25(-30) µm long, 13-19 µm diameter.

In vertical section, one layer of cells in the vegetative part, each cell sometimes obliquely cutting off a cover cell and several layers of cells in the fertile part. Sporangial conceptacles hemispherical and scattered over thallic surface, uniporic, 140-160 µm inside diameter, 180-250 µm outside diameter. Sporangia tetrasporic, 70-80 µm long, 40-50 µm diameter.
