Size: Max length : 100.0 cm TL; Common length : 60.0 cm TL

Color silvery

Long slender body with small scales present over entire body. It has got a terminal mouth and deeply forked tail.Lower jaw is slightly shorter than the upper jaw and rather thickened at its extremity. Cleft of the mouth is oblique. Maxilla extends to rather behind the posterior margin of the orbit. Teeth are numerous and villiform in both jaws, while they are continued along the anterior edge of the maxilla, on vomer in a triangular patch and also on the palatines where there are about ten rows. Dorsal fin commences nearer to the base of the caudal fin than to the snout. It is highest in front with concave upper edge. Anal fin is more concave than the dorsal fins. Some scales are over the root of caudal fin.
