Color: Thallus is whitish grey; prothallus is black.

Thallus crustose, corticolous, epiphloeodal, suborbicular, water absorbing, smooth, fissured to fissured-areolate, ecorticate; prothallus distinct, upper algae free zone of loosely interwoven hyphae; medulla with abundant calcium oxalate crystals; photobiont Trentepohlia. Ascomata convergent, punctiform to lirelliform. If lirelliform; disc black, shinning, epruinose; thalline, often indistinct; exciple colourless; epithecium brown without crystals, hymenium colourless; hypothecium colourless. Paraphysoids branched and anastomosing; tips brown. Asci cylindrical, 8-spored. Ascospores colourless, fusiform. Septate with distinct perispore.
