Description
Color: Body uniformly brown, lighter below.
A fairly small serranid fish. Preopercular edge finely serrated, the serrae coarser at angle; operculum with 3 flat spines, the spines equidistant. Teeth in 4 or 5 rows in upper jaw with an outer enlarged series, in 2 rows on sides of lower jaw; canines small. Dorsal fin with 11 spines and 14 or 15 soft rays. Anal fin with 3 spines and 9 or 10 soft rays. Caudal fin truncate. Scales ctenoid on body, cycloid on head.
