Description
Size: Cell length is 80 µ and Breadth 20 µ.

Color: Yellow brown.

It is a phytosynthetic species.
Cells in girdle view oblong, united by their opposite and alternate edges to form a zig-zag chains; valves relatively broad, linear, ends broadly widened, slightly inflated in middle; valve surface striate; girdle view show septa
which have a single undulation close to girdle; frustules usually lie in girdle view; chromatophores numerous small rounded bodies.

Reproduction is both sexual and asexual.
