Description
Size: Max. length 112 cm FL (male/unsexed)

Max. weight reported: 13.5 kg

Color: Brownish blue above, lighter below. Fins grayish, dusky at tip.

Body elongate, compressed. Head 4.4-4.5 in standard length, 5.2-5.3 in total length. Depth of body 4.6-4.7 in standard length, 5.6-5.7 in total length. Eye diameter 4.2-4.3 in head, 1.3 in pointed snout and also in interorbital space. Jaws with a single row of pointed teeth; a rounded patch of teeth on vomer and in an elongate patch on palatines. Second spine of first dorsal fin longest, slightly shorter than postorbital length of head. Height of second dorsal fin as long as postorbital length of head. Height of anal fin less than that of second dorsal fin. Two lateral lines, the upper ending below sixth dorsal finlet; the second originating from the first above end of pectoral fin running downwards and then curving backwards and joining the upper in front of peduncular keel and ending on peduncular keel.
Number of spines in the first dorsal fin: XII; number of spines and rays in the second dorsal fin: 11+7; number of spines and rays in the anal fin: 12+6; number of rays in the pectoral fin: 24; number of spines and rays in the ventral fin: I, 5; gill raker count: 3+1+15.
