Description
Size: 7.6 cm.

Color: In preserved specimens dark brown, including the fins, excepting the pectorals which may be lighter. Caudal also sometimes lighter. Anal with narrow lighter longitudinal bands. In one specimen the lower parts of the gill membranes and isthmus are lighter with oblique parallel darker brown bands.

Height 4.1-4.4, 4.7-5.2 in length with caudal. Head 3.9, 4.5-4.6 in length with caudal. Eye 4.1-4.5, near convex anterior profile of head. Inter orbital space slightly convex, five eighths or four sixths of eye. Mouth sub terminal, its cleft reaching almost to below hind border of eye. A strong curved canine in the lower jaw, and a shorter but well developed one in the upper jaw. Gill opening a wide vertical slit, extending from above to below base of pectoral. Origin of dorsal above hind border of preopercle. Dorsal increasing in height posteriorly, the last ray equal to post orbital part of head and nearly twice as long as the first one. Membranes between the rays not incised. Anal similar to dorsal but lower, the first rays very short. The membranes between the rays incised. Both dorsal and anal broadly united to caudal which is bluntly pointed. Pectorals equal to head without snout or somewhat shorter. Ventrals longer than pectorals, filamentous, the filaments sometimes reaching anal. Lateral line consisting of distant tubes, high up along base of dorsal, ending about below the 12th dorsal ray.
